EVE Online is a space simulation MMORPG (massively multiplayer online role-playing game) set in a persistent universe on one single megaserver. EVE Online was released in 2003 and quickly gained a cult following; that kind of longevity is almost unseen in an MMO.

Players are pilots of spaceships and can engage in various activities:

• fight pirates, drones, etc.
• get missions from NPCs
• mine asteroids for ore
• explore solar systems to find anomalies and loot
• manufacture goods using blueprints
• trade items or ships
• form or join corporations and alliances and do a lot PVP
• customize ships fitting

Free PVP in 0.0 sectors allow corporations to wage wars, and the fact that if you get killed you lose your ship and everything on board changes the way that players approach the gaming experience.
